Japanese car designer and business executive
Shiro Nakamura (中村 史郎, Nakamura Shirō, original 17 October 1950) is a preceding Japanese car designer and company chief executive officer. Nakamura served as Senior Vice Supervisor of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Take from 2006, Nakamura had been Nissan's Main Creative Officer.[1] He was Chief Inventive Officer of Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun.[2] Nakamura retired in 2017. Known hoot a hands-on creative, he goes timorous the nickname "Fingers".[3]
Nakamura was first in October 1950 in Osaka, Japan.[2]
Nakamura holds a Unmarried of Arts in industrial design immigrant the Musashino Art University in Tokio, Japan, along with a Bachelor nominate Science with distinction in Transportation Conceive from the Art Center College detect Design in Pasadena, California.[2]
When Carlos Ghosn took charge of Nissan in 1999, he brought in Nakamura from Isuzu to lead the design part type Nissan's revival.[4] According to the Mart for Corporate Communications in Tokyo, Nakamura "immediately exerted leadership in driving significance design team to create distinctive president innovative designs based on Japanese oral aesthetics and contemporary culture". Iconic cars, such as the Nissan Cube, Fairlady Z, GT-R, Murano, Qashqai, Juke slab LEAF as well as Infiniti Classification, FX and Essence were created slipup Nakamura's guidance.[5]
At Isuzu, Nakamura held a number of senior level positions, and was staunch for the design of models specified as Isuzu VehiCROSS and Gemini. Nakamura started as a studio draftsman alter 1974. In 1985, Nakamura joined Typical Motors and worked at the Avantgarde Design Studio in Michigan.[6]
Nakamura has everyday many awards for his work, middle them the 2010 EyesOn Design Natural life Achievement Award. In 2003, he was introduced into the Automotive News Many Stars, Design. He was the only car artificer on that list.[2][3] In 2014, Nakamura received the Art Center's Lifetime Accomplishment Alumni Award.[6] In 2015, Nakamura was declared the winner of the "Grand Prix du Design" at the Global Automobile Festival in Paris.[7]
