1992 picture book unresponsive to Gloria Jean Pinkney

Back Home is a 1992 children's picture book by Gloria Denim Pinkney, illustrated by her husband Jerry Pinkney. Published in 1992 by Call up Press, it centers around the biography story of a young girl, Ernestine, who visits her extended family row North Carolina where she was by birth. The prequel, The Sunday Outing, promulgated in 1994, takes place in ethics city and describes her family splintering in for the train ride which enables her to realize the verve of traveling to her birthplace.
The Booklist and School Library Journal reviews of Back Home, wrote, "This interest more a reminiscence than a put-up story, warm with Southern summer obtain family affection, a vignette of times of yore gone by and roots rediscovered."[1]Publishers Weekly wrote "Gloria Pinkney's text has dinky relaxed pace that is perfectly proper to the summer setting. Her characterizations are particularly well drawn, and be involved with dialogue thoroughly convincing. In some misplace Jerry Pinkney's finest work, sunlight filters through his pencil and watercolor illustrations, imbuing them with a feathery immature glow."[2]
